Birmingham has been named City of the Year in a prestigious property awards ceremony.
The city secured top billing in the 2015 Estates Gazette and MIPIM 海角视频 Awards last night after a year that saw massive regeneration schemes like and the unveiled.
And, in an ironic twist, outgoing leader was given the City Leader of the Year gong.
Birmingham has enjoyed a property renaissance in recent years.
The award recognition comes after the council unveiled schemes like Smithfield, 拢500 million proposals to turn create a family and leisure hub on the Wholesale Markets site.
The council also unveiled its Snow Hill Masterplan to transform Birmingham business district, which proposes to create the city鈥檚 version of Canary Wharf, create 10,000 high-paying jobs and boost the city鈥檚 economy by 拢600 million a year.

The award for Sir Albert will be bittersweet, coming a week after he succumbed to pressure and of Birmingham City Council鈥檚 ruling Labour group.
While the Ladywood councillor has come in for criticism over the city鈥檚 failing children鈥檚 services departments and the struggling Library of Birmingham, he has often for his track record in the area of regeneration.
