Birmingham chef Aktar Islam unveils plans for another new restaurant

He will take over the Brindleyplace unit previously occupied by Cau to launch a new Argentine-themed venture called Pulperia

Aktar Islam is planning to open a new restaurant in Three Brindleyplace

Renowned Birmingham chef and restaurateur Aktar Islam has unveiled plans for his latest venture in the city.

Pulperia will be an Argentine-themed steakhouse and housed in Three Brindleyplace, the former home of South American chain Cau after its parent company Gaucho went into administration.

The menu will also include fish, grilled chicken and vegetarian options.

The 3,971 sq ft, ground floor unit opens directly onto Brindleyplace's busy Central Square and is due to launch in November.

Mr Islam worked as chef director of Indian fine dining restaurant Lasan in the Jewellery Quarter for several years and last year opened Opheem and Legna in Summer Row with plans for a new hotel there as well.

Mr Islam said: "I've spent a lot of time in Argentina and have been fortunate enough to have had some truly wonderful experiences in the country which I want to share with diners in Birmingham.

"A truly great dining experience is built around quality and, from the ingredients to the plush dining room, every element should reflect this ethos.

"There's never been a more exciting time for Birmingham with the volume of businesses and visitors coming to the city and Brindleyplace represents a truly great location.
