A chartered surveyor from Birmingham has won a prestigious national industry award in recognition of his achievements in the property sector.
James Walters, associate in business rates at Bilfinger GVA in Birmingham, won the Valuation category at the 2015 RICS Matrics Young Surveyor of the Year Awards, held last night in London.
The annual awards recognise and celebrate the most inspirational young surveying professionals - aged 35 and under - in the 海角视频.

Mr Walters joined Bilfinger GVA’s graduate scheme in September 2008, and since then his career has progressed rapidly, having been involved in several large-scale projects that have required complex rating valuation skills.
They included valuing Ministry of Defence establishments, NHS hospitals, law courts, and football stadiums.
Since then Mr Walters has since used his knowledge to develop new targeted rating initiatives to maximise additional value for clients.
RICS judges praised his expert surveying knowledge and impressive understanding of specific property legislation.
The judging panel also commended his innovative approach and ‘outside the box’ mentality.

Mr Walters said: “It’s wonderful to be recognised by the Young Surveyor of the Year Awards.
“There’s a big misconception that surveyors all wear hard hats and work on building sites.
“These awards bring awareness to the diverse range of surveying roles available for all, not to mention those in the industry having hugely rewarding and successful careers.”
Victoria Hampson, RICS regional director North & Midlands, said: “The land, property and construction industry lacks young talent, so I’m delighted that James’ skills and commitment to raising standards in the property industry has been deservedly recognised.
“He is a credit to our profession and will hopefully inspire others to consider a career in property.”
RICS Matrics chairman James Baker, who headed up this year’s judging panel, said: “The caliber of entrants this year made the judging process particularly difficult.
“The judges and I were hugely impressed and inspired by so many of our industry’s young professionals who are actively improving and advancing the built environment around us. I would like to say a huge well done to all of the winners.”
The winners were announced at a black tie ceremony in front of more than 400 guests at the Lancaster Hotel, London, hosted by comedian Gary Delaney.
