Bellway to kick-start Solihull regeneration project

Housebuilder to lead development of four sites in the north of the borough which will see more than 130 homes built

A massive scheme to regenerate north will be kick-started with 137 homes set to be built early in 2015.

Bellway has been given the green light to start work on the houses across four sites in the latest phase of the 15-year project.

Planning applications for the new homes were approved by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council following a lengthy consultation process by the North Solihull Partnership.

Bellway has been closely involved in the 15-year, £1.8 billion scheme and began its first residential project at Chelmsley Wood in 2006.

Stephen Rose, sales and marketing director for Bellway West Midlands, said: "We are very pleased these plans have been approved.

"We feel that these 137 new homes across four sites will bring a real boost to the area and we hope the residents of North Solihull agree.

"These plans will help to drive forward a new phase in the area’s regeneration."

Just under half the new homes will be affordable housing. Bellway will build 26 one-, two- and three-bedroom houses and apartments on two parcels of land at Castle Oak in Overgreen Drive, Kingshurst.
