Bellway buys 14 acre plot of land at Coalville for 189 homes

Wider site will feature 15 acres of parkland and public space, with a 23-acre riverside green corridor along the River Sence

Harworth Group is developing land for 2,000 homes near Coalville

A land developer has struck a deal to sell the next parcel of land on a major redevelopment site to a national housebuilder.

Harworth Group says it has sold a 13.8-acre plot at its South East Coalville residential site in north west Leicestershire to Bellway.

The land will deliver 189 new homes and represents the first sale within the second phase of the overall scheme.

The 250 acre site is Harworth’s biggest residential development in the Midlands, and has outline planning consent for a new community of more than 2,000 homes.

The development comprises two areas - Hugglescote Grange to the north and Swinfen Vale to the south. Both are named after surrounding villages.

The first phase began in 2020, with land sold to Redrow for 204 homes and Bellway for 166 homes. That followed infrastructure works carried out by Harworth.

Construction has already begun on Bellway’s first parcel of land at the site at Hugglescote Grange.

Earlier this year, Harworth began enabling works for the second phase of the scheme, which will include homes, shops, a new primary school and other civic amenities.
