The BBC Radio Leicester HQ

The BBC Radio Leicester headquarters has been put on the market with an asking price of £4.8 million and above.

The building, facing onto Jubilee Square and close to Leicester Cathedral, was purpose-built for the broadcaster in 2005. The corporation has a 25-year lease, which runs until September 2029.

The three-storey building has 17,640 sq ft of floor space and includes a radio station studio, shop, training room, offices and studios.

It is located on the corner of St Nicholas Place and Guildhall Lane and there are three car parking spots allocated to BBC staff.

The building is also the Midlands hub of the BBC College of Journalism, and has an IT centre and a BBC shop.

It was also once the hub of the BBC Asian Network, which is now based on the top floor of the BBC's headquarters in central London, sitting alongside BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra.

The listing says the building has "re-positioning opportunity for alternative uses", subject to planning permission.

According to the details on the website of property agents Savills, the rent is £323,000 a year with a rent review due in the autumn of 2024.
