BAM wins brief to develop second Paradise building

Construction group behind Beorma Quarter and Three Snowhill will lead development of Two Chamberlain Square

Construction group BAM has been appointed to develop the second office building at the £500 million Paradise project in Birmingham city centre.

The company, which is also currently will develop 183,000 sq ft across eight floors including ground-floor retail space.

Two Chamberlain Square will be built next to the site vacated by the old Central Library and Paradise Forum and be completed in 2019.

A new image has also been released (below) showing how the finished complex will look.

Its neighbour One Chamberlain Square, the is due to be finished in autumn 2018.

The enabling and infrastructure works for both buildings are already under way, with piling for the foundations for Two Chamberlain Square currently being drilled up to 20 metres into the ground.

BAM, which also carried out and led will begin construction of the building itself in September following the completion of two levels of basement.

Chris Taylor, head of private markets at Hermes Investment Management, said: "Our confidence in Birmingham is such that we are pushing ahead with the speculative development of Two Chamberlain Square.
