A Hull mechanical and electrical installation contractor has set itself up for further growth after making a significant investment in new premises.

The expansion of GW Power-Safe has seen it move from a unit on Brighton Street Industrial Estate to its own base on Scott Street, close to the site of Banksy’s acclaimed city artwork.

Established in 2014, the company started with three employees. Now there are 31 on the books. On that journey it was named Small Business of the Year at the Hull Business Awards in 2017.

And while the neighbouring crowd-drawer could re-emerge from storage alongside a new replica bridge and the former pump house, GW is looking to add a further 10 people to the team in a similar time frame.

General manager Rob Dixon said: “Our move to new premises marks a very exciting time for us and this is testimony to our success and continuous development.

“There is a positive buzz about the place and the investment made by the business is already having an impact. All our staff are over the moon to be working in such a professional and comfortable environment - morale and motivation has always been high but it is at a whole new level now.

“The investment has also enabled us to not only recruit some new staff in key positions but has also given us the scope to expand further with more new positions on the horizon which will increase our skill set further.

"Ultimately the move has allowed us to strengthen our level of professionalism and quality of services that we can provide, and I am personally, along with all my colleagues, looking forward to the road ahead.”
