A housing developer which snapped up 39 acres of farmland last year, earmarked for 350 new homes, has begun marketing the first properties.

Chesterfield-based housebuilder Avant Homes has unveiled the first homes at its Sheltone Village development in Earl Shilton, west Leicestershire.

Located in Heath Lane, the development features two, three and four-bedroom homes ranging in price from £185,000 to £395,000.

Leicestershire property consultancy Fisher German originally acted on behalf of a farming family and an independent promoter to sell the farmland site.

It included 1.5 acres of land that will be set aside for job creation.

At the time Ross Jackson, a Fisher German development surveyor based in Ashby, said: “There was strong interest in the site which led to a competitive tender process and demonstrates the optimism in Earl Shilton as a market.

“We are extremely pleased to achieve a result that was positive for the landowner, promoter and purchaser, and we wish Avant Homes the best of luck with the development.”

Avant Homes Midlands sales and marketing director Debby Pavitt said: “We’re really pleased to announce the launch of Sheltone Village in Earl Shilton.
