Global engineering consultancy Arup has officially opened its new Birmingham office.

Said to be one of its five largest hubs worldwide, the new base at the city centre Paradise estate is home to 800 employees.

The company, whose West Midlands office was previously in Solihull, was also part of the project team to consult on and build One Centenary Way which is the third office building to complete at Paradise.

The new office space has a variety of workplace settings, social areas, wellbeing areas, creative spaces and focus zones.

Arup said being in the city centre would help bring it closer to schools, colleges and universities as it looks to build stronger links with the local education sector and give it more opportunities to attract, grow and retain industry talent here.

In addition to the office space, Arup has its own entrance into the building and a ground-floor activity hub with a gallery space in which Arup staff will work alongside local partners and neighbours to deliver community and charitable activities.

Midlands leader Cem Budak said: "We are excited to officially open our new Midlands hub located in the heart of Birmingham, the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's second city.
