An architecture practice which specialises in conservation projects has opened its first Midlands office in Birmingham.

Donald Insall Associates has launched a new studio in Edgbaston, making it the group's seventh º£½ÇÊÓÆµ office since it was founded in London nearly 60 years ago.

The Birmingham studio follows amalgamation with Christopher Thomas Architects, a specialist in conservation in the city since 1983.

Mr Thomas will be retained as a consultant to the new office.

The studio will offer services such as lead conservation architects and historic building consultancy work.

Current projects include work at the Grade II*-listed Birmingham Botanical Gardens in Edgbaston, heritage consultancy at the former Municipal Bank in Broad Street and acting as conservation architects for the re-use of the Grade I London Road Cemetery in Coventry.

It is also advising on a new project at Birmingham Cathedral.
