Plans for a state-of-the-art, 72-bed care home boasting facilities such as a cinema room and café have been announced. The prospective site for the development is just off London Road in Davenham, near Northwich, with developers hoping to create 65 new jobs.

Designed as a two-storey complex, the care home aims to offer specialist dementia support alongside round-the-clock elderly nursing care. Residents will have amenities including en-suite bedrooms, multiple lounges, dining areas, a cinema room, library, hair salon and café.

Solar panels will also be fitted atop the main structure, .

A comprehensive planning application has been lodged with Cheshire West and Chester Council by Liberty Care Developments, Edward Joseph Dougherty III, Lynette Marie Napier, and Metacre Limited. Consultants from Savills said in the planning statement: "It will be designed to offer specialist dementia care and 24-hour elderly nursing care for those residents that require it. Each bedroom will have an en-suite wet room provision, however no living space or kitchen space will be provided.

"Communal areas will include lounges, dining rooms, cinema room, hair and beauty salon, library, activity room, communal visitors café. Back of house spaces include office space, commercial kitchen, drug dispensary/stores, laundry and staff rooms."

The report added: "Operating an in and out route for vehicles allows for large vehicles to manoeuvre the site in forward gear, avoiding the need to back out onto a busy road. The parking area provides 32 parking spaces, including three disabled spaces, an ambulance/drop-off bay and three bicycle spaces at the front for visitors with further secure cycle parking for staff.

"Within three miles of the Davenham area there is an unmet need of 272 wetroom beds, including committed schemes with planning permission. Therefore, there is clearly a need for specialist accommodation for the elderly in the area.

"Other significant benefits are associated with economic impacts, notably the creation of 65 new FTE jobs, as well as jobs associated with the construction and wider local supply network. The proposed development fits the character of the local area and would not result in any environmental or landscape impact that could not be sufficiently mitigated through the proposed design."
