An advanced engineering manufacturing unit is being brought forward on a South Humber Bank enterprise zone as the local authority looks to spark further interest in the strategic site.

North East Lincolnshire Council and Humber Local Enterprise Partnership are investing more than £2.7 million to bring forward the 15,000 sq ft facility at Stallingborough, with talks ongoing with a potential anchor tenant.

The light industrial premises will offer a mix of office, research and development, manufacturing and distribution space and will be a first build off the A180 and A1173 junction, providing excellent port and motorway links.

Cllr John Fenty, cabinet member for regeneration at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “This will be the first major build on the Stallingborough site, and we’re in advanced discussions with an anchor tenant.

“The South Humber project itself will see a number of key projects delivered over a five to 10 year period and when complete the programme will create 90 hectares of additional employment land, create 4,000 new jobs and generate £200 million within the local economy over the next 25 years.”

NELC is committing £1,766,880 to the project, which should create 80 new jobs, and forms part of the South Humber Industrial Investment Programme, a huge commitment to economic development involving the 'oven ready' creation of land for use between Grimsby and Immingham.

Humber LEP tops that up to the tune of £950,000 from the Humber’s Local Growth Fund allocation. It was agreed at a meeting on Friday, with the funding secured from Government as part of their commitment to the Northern Powerhouse.

Chair of the Humber LEP, Lord Haskins, said: “We are very pleased to be allocating this funding towards a facility that will help to establish advanced engineering manufacturing in Stallingborough.
