2,600 homes and 35-story towers: Pomona Island vision unveiled

Peel Waters' latest vision for Manchester Waters scheme

Peel Waters' proposals for Manchester Waters

A vision to continue to reshape the 'island' between the Bridgewater and Manchester Ship Canals with a community of 2,600 homes and 35-storey towers has been unveiled.

Developer Peel Waters has published its plan for the 25-acre Pomona Island, branded Manchester Waters, which includes up to 100 care beds, 200 hotel rooms and student accommodation, for public consultation.

Already, 500 homes have been delivered to date, with planning permission granted for a further 300, in addition to an apartment hotel.

The public's views are being sought ahead of the submission of an outline planning application to Trafford council.

The latest scheme includes 15 acres of public open space destined to become a dockside park.

Some 75,000sq ft of flexible office and retail space amid the tower blocks are also part of the scheme.

John Matthews Architects, Re-form Landscape Architects and Turley are working with Peel on the application.

Plans can be viewed on the Peel Waters website at until October 8.
