£2,000 reward for finding right person to run this Leicestershire pub

The Soar Bridge Inn pub runs as an independent business, with the backing of Everards brewery

The Soar Bridge Inn in Barrow-upon-Soar

A brewery is offering £2,000 to anyone who can successfully recommend the right person to run a Leicestershire pub.

Everards is looking for the right people to take over management of the Soar Bridge Inn in the village of Barrow-upon-Soar, a couple of miles from Loughborough – and is willing to pay to track them down.

The village sits on the edge of the Charnwood Forest, with the Grand Union Canal and River Soar running through it.

A spokesman for the Leicestershire brewery said: “This family pub, which sits at the heart of the Barrow community, was originally called The Railway and was built in the Victorian age – the period of the steam train.

“Records show it has also been a hostel for boatmen using the nearby Grand Union canal network.

“Nowadays, it is a well-loved pub offering tasty pub grub, a wide range of ales and beers and boasts, among other things, its own bowling alley!

“The Soar Bridge Inn pub runs as an independent business, with the backing of Everards and their 172 years of experience, so this should be viewed as an exceptional opportunity for individuals or couples to create their own business within this historic building.”

The pub has a bar, dining area, function room and skittle alley as well as private accommodation with three bedrooms.
