New future for former Premier Inn hotel

Black Country building is to be refurbished and turned into a new hotel following lease deal

A new hotel is set to open in West Plaza following a lease deal

A former Black Country hotel site is set to reopen following a facelift and rebrand after a new lease deal was struck.

The West Plaza building, in West Bromwich, was previously home to a Premier Inn but the Vine Hotels group has now agreed a new letting.

Vine Hotels is an independent firm headquartered in Sheffield which operates 12 venues across the country and is now planning to reopen the 85-bedroom West Plaza, in High Street, under a new brand, yet to be unannounced.

It currently operates names such as Mercure, Doubletree and Whirlow Brook Hall.

Chief executive Garin Davies said: "The West Plaza is an exciting property for Vine Hotels, given its excellent location.

"The hotel has immense potential for the future and we look forward to helping the West Plaza take its rightful place as one of West Bromwich's best hotels following its refurbishment."

Property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton completed the letting on behalf of landlord Real Estate Investors.
